Far Afield is an independent, family-run menswear brand founded in 2016 by brothers Mark
Scholes and Chris Scholes. Based between Brighton and Porto, we’re shaped and sustained by two cities with strong communities and lively creative scenes.
Far Afield began a long way from home, and travel still sits at the centre of how we work. Places shape the clothes directly: palettes pulled from landscapes, prints lifted from folktales and the natural world, and textiles found in the places that actually make them. We collect references as we go, then turn them into considered, wearable collections, with the world of art, culture & music setting the mood and tempo throughout.
We’re a small team, and we keep things close. We work through long-term relationships with the people who make our clothing, the stores who back it and the people who wear it. That closeness gives us the freedom to work things out properly, stick with it when it gets difficult, and make clothes that feel worth the time, care, and trust of everyone involved.
Far Afield. Designed for the journey.

If you ever find yourself in Porto, you’re welcome to visit our Design Studio & Sample Store. It’s a working space where we develop each collection and house a rotating rail of samples and one-off pieces. The studio is open to the public, and you’ll find the address and map just below.
