Bento Araujo is a journalist, researcher, and record collector whose expertise in Brazilian music is unparalleled. With a deep understanding of Tropicalia and Brazil’s broader musical history, Bento has become a key figure in documenting the sounds that have shaped the nation. His passion for the records and their stories is evident in his celebrated book, Lindo Sonho Delirante: 100 Psychedelic Records from Brazil (1968-1975), a work that uncovers the records that forever changed Brazilian music.
Our connection with Bento began while working on our SS25 collection, Tropicalismo, and we quickly grew to appreciate his warmth, generosity, and infectious enthusiasm. It felt only natural to capture this shared passion in the film above, where Bento takes us on a personal journey through Rio de Janeiro. He introduces us to the record stores and key figures who continue to uphold the Tropicalia legacy, guiding us through the vibrant heart of Rio’s record scene, an ever-evolving intersection of history, culture, and music.
